E-String Guitar Necklace, 18" (GR017)

Strings play a pivotal role in all Glass Heart String Choir music—from pianos to guitars to harps to violins, strings produce the sounds we create and capture. Their lives on our instruments are often brief, but we believe they can become beautiful, permanent objects of art after they cease making beautiful sounds.
 
This necklace is a bright, polished statement piece that sits approximately an inch below the clavicle. It pairs well with v-neck and crew necklines and is complimentary to number of fabrics and colors. This necklace is made from a guitar E string (specifically a 80/20 bronze Elixir HD Light E string). We love these strings because they have a bright and focused resonance, and they're specialized coating makes them both a bright, shiny gold color and especially well suited to become durable jewelry. E strings are just over 1.25 mm wide, and this necklace features tri-wrapped interlocking rings connected with antique brass artistic wire to gold-plated figure-eight chain with lobster clasp.
 
Our guitarist, Ian, changes his strings once a week when on tour and before each new recording session, so these strings are guaranteed to have been used to write, record, or perform songs we love (and that we hope you love, too!). Each piece is handmade by our producer and instrumentalist, Katie, and as such, each has individual character which we tried to capture in these photographs. Katie works to feel the natural bend of each string to find the right size and shape of each piece, so no two are alike. We hope you find the one that's right for you!
