E-String Violin Earrings (VN002)
Strings play a pivotal role in all Glass Heart String Choir music—from pianos to guitars to harps to violins, strings produce the sounds we create and capture. Their lives on our instruments are often brief, but we believe they can become beautiful, permanent objects of art after they cease making beautiful sounds.
These earrings make for a small and delicate accent piece, and float approximately 1.5 inches below the ear. They are incredibly light and are a great way to add polish and a little shine to an outfit. They are made from a violin E string (specifically a Pirastro Evah Pirazzi E string). They're the only gold violin string you'll see, and we love these strings because they have add a magical, shimmery projection to the violin's highest notes. Their gold-plated steel is a rich, shiny gold color and especially well suited to become durable jewelry. E strings are incredibly thin, just a small fraction of a millimeter wide, and these earrings features tri-wrapped rings connected with antique brass artistic wire to alloy-plated stainless steel ear hooks (18mm x 0.8mm, hole size: 2mm).
Violin strings are changed every four to six months, so their less frequent change over and shorter overall length means we produce fewer violin string pieces than other types. Like guitar string pieces, these strings have also been used to write, record, or perform songs we love (and that we hope you love, too!). Each piece is handmade by our violinist and producer, Katie, and as such, each has individual character which we tried to capture in these photographs. Katie works to feel the natural bend of each string to find the right size and shape of each piece, so no two are alike. We hope you find the one that's right for you!
